"I'd love to do that one day..." "If I had money I'd go...." "Sigh, that'd be nice..."
These are often the things I hear when talking about travel with friends and family. But the truth is, for most people, travel is actually possible!
How?
A travel agent and great knowledge.
With good planning and a good travel agent, you can take your family of 4 on a 5 day cruise for $1100. And you can make payments on that for a year if you need! That's $100 a month, and I promise you that it can be found even in some pretty tight budgets. There are options in so many ways to customize your travel to your budget and desires. If you have a big budget, let's plan that amazing vacation to Greece! If you have a small budget, let's find ways to make memories and experience new things closer to home or with some great deals!
Travel isn't just about the instagram photos, it's about the memories you make. Whether traveling alone or in a group, you get to see, smell, and experience new things that stay with you, long after the social media post is forgotten. At the end of our lives all we have left are the people in it and the memories we made, and hopefully some photographs of both. We get one chance to live, and we can't just sit and wait for something wonderful to happen to us, we have to reach out and make it happen. Travel is so much more than a suitcase and a ticket to a plane. It's a ticket to growth, laughter, wonder, and memories.
Travel has become my priority when it comes to how we live our lives now. What we buy, what we justify spending money on, and how we plan. We choose our priorities. Every day. Often, when things are tight, we try to alleviate the feeling of having "less" by getting some small treats. Drive thru, a Starbucks a few times a month, that shirt that has a cute saying, etc. What if instead of spending that $10 of drive thru or $25 of Starbucks or that $12 shirt...it got paid into a CRUISE?! That's what we have shifted. And trust me, it's possible! By doing it this way, there is an amazing time solidly in place and coming, and it can be paid off almost without even realizing it. Yes it means less get little treats, but it's an AMAZING treat later on1 It can be hard to cut out the little treats when it feels pointless, but with travel planning the prize at the end is real! It's the trip to Disney, to the beach, to visit family, the cruise, the staycation, or the trip to Mexico.
Did you know that travel is just about always less expensive and easier to plan with a travel agent? They know the ins and outs, have the behind the scenes knowledge to help you plan in ways you'd never have thought of, and they can guide you in trips that are right for your current budget. Maybe it's just a weekend staycation! You can get better hotel rates with travel agents, and often get extra perks! The best part, a travel agent doesn't cost you anything. I used to think things cost more with an agent so they would get paid, but boy was I wrong! YOU don't pay the agent anything, but the places you're going do, and you get better rates! It's a win-win-win all the way around.

Some of us need to do something much closer to home and on a budget. ALL of these things can be wonderful memories and are worth it!
